岛子画展：变血为墨 Turning Blood Into Ink
Painting the Life: Professor and Artist Wang Min (Dao Zi) Visiting Vancouver
In the upcoming October, artist, poet, curator, art critic and professor Wang Min王敏 – pen named Dao Zi （島子） will be visiting the Regent College (near UBC Campus). During his visit, he will be exhibiting his art in the gallery, the Lookout, as well as presenting a public lecture, and participating in several classes.
Professor Wang Min is a well-known art critic in China. He is a Member of the International Academy of Aesthetics. At Tsingua University, Wang Min teaches History of Modern and Contemporary Chinese Art and, Artistic Criticism Theory. He also serves as graduate supervisor in Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. As an artist, Daozi’s art reflects deep conviction. In a style he terms “Saintism,” he now uses painting to meditate. Responding to the domination of Western oils and acrylics on canvas, Daozi endeavors to revitalize the traditional Chinese ink painting technique.
